He had a large angry dog attack him once on a delivery, he was scratched on the leg bitten and bottom of his pants torn. From that day, I looked for one of these dog deterrent sound machines since we have one for our dog, and it calms him and also seems to kind of scare him. I wanted something portable for my son to stick in his pocket and this worked out well for him. He’s used it several times on these country dogs that run after him on deliveries. He said it’s like he has a new super power. He sees them running at him he pushes just the low dog sound button and the dogs immediately stop and back away and leave him alone! Hes very grateful for it that it works so well on these big dogs he encounters. He doesn’t like to have to use it – he loves dogs – but after the dog attack, my son is a little less trusting now and it just helps him not have to push dogs away when he’s just trying to do his job and move on to the next.
I will say we have a 10 month old Pomeranian that is very yappy- we tested this on her and she has no use of it. Doesn’t bother her at all even on the loudest button. She may not be old enough yet? Or maybe she’s just too small? She will only be 4 pounds at adult size. Our other Pom he’s 15-20 pounds and 5 years old it does affect him. He cowers and runs away and looks nervous when the button is activated. It could be a size thing? But we’re happy it works on the big old crazy farm dogs for FedEx drop offs 🙂 works for what we got it for! Might save a life or a trip to a hospital!
