If you plan on keeping it in your bag to travel with, I would decide against that because it WILL leak. The only real way to ensure it won’t leak is to probably hold it and carry it with you, which might be hard depending on how you commute with it. I wouldn’t recommend it for travel unless you have a stable way of carrying it. OTHER WISE .. love the cup very much and the color is really cute ( I got it in surf blue!)

So here comes hydro flask, seems fairly priced BUT this cup is not sealed, the plastic outside feels like it could come free from the metal and upon first wash I noticed water getting in the crack between the metal and plastic.
I used a nap a napkin on the end of my nail too push the napkin EASILY lot soft room into the Gap in between the metal and the plastic and out came black soot! First use here so, what the heck? If I send this black soot to the lab will it come back with a positive lead reading? Because I can do that, I shouldn’t have to though, for the amount of money I spent on this single cup it should be sealed completely and completely lead free and soot free, clean.
I’m knocking off stars because of all that….it’s not a fully sealed mug, it let’s water/coffee and therefore bacteria into the edged of the mug where you drink from. I hear ppl complaining about the lid, it’s safer than that clear acrylic crap others use. While that’s cool and the colour is great I might just return this because overall I’m not impressed, I don’t know what that black soot coming out of the gap onto my lips when I take a sip…
The gap should not be there to begin with, that’s poor manufacturing considering literally one more, maybe two more millimeters of plastic would have prevented the issue.
It’s made in China, no surprise quality issues here, considering the plethora of reports I’ve seen on the appalling amount of lead that system over there gets away with putting in everything including children’s toys, I don’t trust this product right now. I’m not happy with it.
