Unlike other wifi based monitors that connect to the “cloud” this one has NEVER gone down. The app, isn’t fancy, but it does the essentials. Most importantly, multiple users can be given access to the account, and not just use all the same login info. That’s a huge plus.
The camera is decent (probably as good as/if not better) than competitors. It’s motorized so you can pan the room, which is handy. I’ve had my wife accidentally fall asleep with the baby, and I can pan to the chair and see her there so I can know if I should go get her out of there or not. It also features an SD card slot for 24/7 recording (if you really want to keep track of the weird things you kid does). There are built in songs and you can broadcast your audio through it too.
The handheld monitor is MOSTLY perfect. It’s USB-C (nice!) and the thing has a MASSIVE battery. Between settings for screen turning off with no motion / sound and the battery itself, I’ve had this thing sitting off of the charger for maybe 12+ hours? I’ve also never had signal strength issues with this before either. I have a large 3000 sqft two story house and it’s never disconnected or come across as low quality.
My only complaints about the device itself is that the lowest volume is LOUD. I fixed that by slapping a piece of masking tape over the speaker on the back. It helped considerably. Also, it would have been nice to see a sound meter to see how loud your baby actually is being when the audio is muted. Otherwise, it just shows a symbol that it is detecting sound.
But despite those issues, the fact that this thing just works, and works at a fraction of the cost of the big named brands and I have yet to have a single issue with it, I HIGHLY recommend this over any other wifi system you may be considering.
