Installation was pretty easy, comes with all the tools needed as well as a USB C to USB C cable. Took about 5 mins max. Plug and play with my Macbook Pro M3 Max. Able to achieve decent read/write performance considering that it’s an older drive. The enclosure does get hot, but I haven’t noticed any performance issues due to the heat. I load all my Final Cut Pro libraries on this and it runs fine. Will likely get another one of these along with an SSD over an external SSD when I need more storage in the future. Only issue with this order was with Amazon. They initially shipped me an empty padded envelope with a packing slip and nothing else. Was freaking out a bit as not sure if Amazon would believe my story, but customer service took care of it. Reordered and got this a day later. All is well. Thanks Amazon. Highly recommend this!

Looks far better than most enclosures. A few things got to me and prevented me leaving a 5 star. First, not that we should really need them, but the installation guild has ridiculously small print with much wasted space between lines. Secondly are the screws. The screws on the housing should be set screws, there is nothing holding them in and once they fall out they are hard to seat back in between the heat sink fins. Thankfully an extra case screw is included, unfortunately said screw is just thrown in the box and is lost upon opening. The screw holding down the SSD might work on shorter SSDs, however with a 2280 I could not get the screw to sit correctly. Ended up using one that came with the SSD with no issue. Once installation is done, super easy set up. truly plug and play. The included USB cable is very short, but the drive sits right beside the computer, so no issue and no cable mess. I have not run any large file or speed tests, but idle temp is well within acceptable limits and I don’t see heat issues to be too much of a problem if at all. Al together very satisfied, will likely consider again when more storage needs arise. I’ll just make sure to have spare hardware around.

I was completel let down. I bought three of these based on several influencers. I tried 2 of the 3 enclosure with a 4T WD SSD. It did not work on my Mac Mini or my Mac Pro. I tried different cables and conducted various troubleshooting methods based on my internet research. Nothing worked. I placed my WD SSD into a different enclosure, and it works instantly. I do not recommend this product if you are using Mac products.

Sunning aluminium finish — not corse at all and is finely graded. Thermo performance is great in standard room temp of 20 as it was barely warm during 1TB write. Speed is 700mb/s with the WD_BLACK SN7100 (DRAM-less but uses new-gen 218-layer NAND) and is blazing fast. No problem with the cable in box. Packaging is well thought-out. Installation is uncomplicated. Perfect Form factor for a Mac everyday carry. I would personally go with this enclosure with my selected drive then pre-built external SSD like the Samsung T9. This has upgradability and faster read/write. If you are exclusively in the Apple ecosystem, configure the drive via Mac’s ‘Disk Utility’ to ‘APFS’ give you faster read/write and support for snapshots, cloning, strong encryption, space sharing (multiple volumes share free space). Additionally, great data integrity and crash resilience — Apple like.

Le boitier est quali, en alu et lourd. Le look en position verticale est vraiment réussi. Je ne recommande pas d’ailleurs de le placer à l’horizontale, les dissipateurs thermiques etant de chaque côté du boitier. A plat, il chauffera davantage.
L’ouverture du boitier par 2 vis et l’installation du ssd sont ultra simples. L’épaisseur du pad thermique est plus fine que celle du cm642. (Probablement lié aux soucis d’ecrasement et de déconnexion de certains ssd WD avec un pad plus épais).
J’ai installé dans ce boitier un ssd WD Black SN850x. Il faut exercer une certaine pression après l’installation pour visser le couvercle mais rien de rédhibitoire. Le boitier avec ssd est reconnu immédiatement par un mac mini M4 (sur un port TB4/USB4 au dos du mac) et les performances sont au rendez-vous : Entre 3100 et 3200 MB/S sur Disk Speed Test de BlackMagic… Les 40gbps sont bien là !
Connecté aux ports USB-C en facade du mac, les débits retombent à 900 MB/S ce qui est normal vu que la norme de ces ports est USB 3.
Après plusieurs tests de charge, quelques dizaines de gigas transférés en USB4 à la vitesse de l’éclair (plus rapide qu’un samsung X5 déjà très performant), ce boitier ne bronche pas, il chauffe mais dissipe bien la chaleur (on peut toucher la surface sans ce bruler), il ne dépasse pas chez moi les 45°. Aucune déconnexion à déplorer. Et surtout pas un bruit… Vraiment impressionné par la qualité de l’enclosure qui est particulièrement bien né.
Très satisfait de mon achat. Je pense en racheter un autre pour mon autre mac…
